Attending Physician

$220,000 - $250,000 + incentives

About the Role

​

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Attending Physician to provide comprehensive medical care to patients and collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to ensure the highest standards of quality and safety. The Attending Physician will also participate in quality improvement initiatives, policy development, and education activities that support the hospital’s mission of delivering exceptional, patient-centered care.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Patient Care & Safety

  • Provide primary care and medical management to patients admitted to the hospital.

  • Perform and document complete histories and physical examinations upon admission.

  • Conduct daily rounds, write orders, and update medical records with findings and treatment plans.

  • Ensure all medical documentation supports diagnosis, treatment, and outcomes, including post-discharge plans.

  • Promote and uphold a culture of patient safety, encouraging open communication and continuous improvement.

  • Participate in the implementation and monitoring of safety programs.

 

Planning & Quality Improvement

  • Contribute to the development of clinical policies, procedures, and quality assessment initiatives.

  • Participate in departmental and hospital quality review, performance improvement, and assessment programs.

  • Maintain compliance with hospital bylaws, medical staff rules, and applicable policies and procedures.

 

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work collaboratively with nursing, social work, nutrition, pastoral care, and case management to ensure coordinated care.

  • Maintain open and compassionate communication with patients and their families regarding prognosis, treatment, and care plans.

  • Ensure continuity of care through regular communication with covering physicians and other members of the healthcare team.

  • Participate in medical staff meetings and interdisciplinary conferences as required by the Medical Director.

  • Serve as a liaison to the Department of Medicine and support The Joint Commission compliance activities.

 

Professional Leadership

  • Share in on-call coverage during weekdays, weekends, and holidays.

  • Support hospital initiatives by contributing to educational programs, research, and committee work as requested.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Medical Director or Executive Medical Director.

  • Adhere to ethical and legal standards of practice and report potential compliance issues as appropriate.

 

Qualifications

​

  • MD or DO from an accredited medical school

  • Current New York State medical license

  • Board Certification in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine (or equivalent training and experience)

  • Demonstrated competence in the care of patients with advanced or complex medical conditions

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills

  • Commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care and interdisciplinary collaboration
