Director of Marketing and Community Relations/Fundraising

Pay: $120,000 - $150,000 per year

Position Summary

​

** Must have EXTENSIVE fundraising experience, in Vermont.

 

This leadership role drives strategic visibility, engagement, and philanthropic growth for a regional healthcare system. The Director oversees fundraising, marketing, public relations, government affairs, community outreach, and market research—ensuring alignment with organizational goals and compliance with all applicable healthcare regulations.

 

Key Responsibilities

​

Strategic Leadership

  • Serve as a member of the Senior Management Team, contributing a development-oriented perspective to executive decisions.

  • Evaluate departmental performance against goals and implement improvements in response to organizational, industry, or community changes.

  • Develop and manage departmental budgets, ensuring fiscal responsibility and alignment with strategic priorities.

 

Marketing & Communications

  • Design and execute annual marketing plans and promotional campaigns.

  • Maintain brand consistency across all communications and media.

  • Act as organizational spokesperson; manage press relations and media inquiries.

  • Draft and edit press releases and byline articles to reflect strategic messaging.

  • Oversee PR and marketing agency relationships.

  • Monitor healthcare legislation and advise executive leadership on implications.

  • Coordinate speaking engagements and awards programs for staff and physicians.

  • Lead planning and execution of special events and community presentations.

 

Fundraising & Development

  • Plan and direct fundraising initiatives targeting individuals, corporations, and philanthropic organizations.

  • Implement campaigns using direct mail, personal solicitation, benefit events, and planned giving strategies.

  • Cultivate donor relationships through stewardship and recognition programs.

  • Generate non-operating revenue through grants and contributions to support strategic initiatives.

 

Education & Experience

 

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Organizational Planning, or related field.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in healthcare or nonprofit administration.

  • At least 2 years in a managerial role focused on planning, marketing, or public relations.

 

Preferred:

  • 5+ years in healthcare administration with emphasis on strategic outreach and development.

 

Skills 

 

Required:

  • Strong administrative and organizational capabilities.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to collaborate with board members, staff, physicians, donors, and volunteers.

  • High attention to detail and computer proficiency.

 

Preferred:

  • Experience in budget development and financial planning.

Working Conditions
