Inpatient Psychiatrist

Position Summary

​

We are seeking a dedicated Inpatient Psychiatrist to provide high-quality psychiatric care for hospitalized patients experiencing acute mental health conditions. In this role, you will lead diagnostic evaluation, treatment planning, and medication management within a structured inpatient environment, working closely with an interdisciplinary care team to stabilize patients and prepare them for safe discharge.


Key Responsibilities

​

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and risk assessments for inpatient admissions

  • Develop and manage individualized treatment plans, including psychopharmacologic interventions

  • Lead daily interdisciplinary rounds with nursing, social work, psychology, and therapy teams

  • Monitor patient progress, response to treatment, and safety concerns

  • Provide crisis intervention and manage acute behavioral health emergencies

  • Collaborate on discharge planning and continuity of care with outpatient providers and community resources

  • Maintain timely, accurate documentation in the electronic health record

  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, peer review, and clinical meetings

  • Supervise and support advanced practice providers, residents, or students as applicable

  • Ensure care delivery aligns with regulatory, ethical, and hospital standards

 

Qualifications

​

  • MD or DO from an accredited medical school

  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited Psychiatry residency

  • Board Eligible or Board Certified in Psychiatry

  • Active or eligible state medical license

  • DEA registration (or ability to obtain)

  • Strong clinical decision-making and risk management skills

  • Excellent communication and team leadership abilities

 

Preferred Qualifications

​

  • Prior experience in inpatient psychiatry, acute care, or consult-liaison psychiatry

  • Experience treating high-acuity populations, including severe mood disorders, psychosis, and co-occurring conditions

  • Interest in teaching, supervision, or program development
