Overview

A community‑based hospital in Far Rockaway, NY is seeking a dedicated Physician Assistant to join its Inpatient Medicine / Hospitalist team. This role is ideal for both experienced PAs and newer graduates, offering comprehensive onboarding, strong physician support, and exposure to a wide range of acute medical conditions.

​

The PA will work alongside hospitalists, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to deliver high‑quality inpatient care to a diverse patient population.

 

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Care

  • Perform admissions, daily rounding, and cross‑coverage on adult medical inpatients

  • Conduct focused histories and physical exams

  • Develop and implement patient care plans in collaboration with supervising physicians

  • Write orders, manage acute issues, and coordinate discharges

  • Communicate with consulting services, nursing, case management, and families

  • Document all patient encounters in the EMR in a timely and accurate manner

Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with hospitalists and multidisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care

  • Participate in handoffs, care coordination, and daily team huddles

  • Support quality and safety initiatives within the inpatient medicine service

Training & Support

  • Receive structured onboarding and mentorship from experienced hospitalists

  • Participate in ongoing education, skills development, and clinical training

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program

  • Current or eligible NYS PA license

  • NCCPA certification (or eligibility)

  • Strong interest in inpatient medicine or hospitalist practice

  • Excellent communication, clinical reasoning, and teamwork skills

  • New graduates encouraged to apply

 

Schedule & Work Environment

  • Full‑time hospital‑based position

  • Rotating schedule (days, evenings, weekends, holidays as needed)
