A community‑based hospital in Far Rockaway, NY is seeking a dedicated Physician Assistant to join its Inpatient Medicine / Hospitalist team. This role is ideal for both experienced PAs and newer graduates, offering comprehensive onboarding, strong physician support, and exposure to a wide range of acute medical conditions.
​
The PA will work alongside hospitalists, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to deliver high‑quality inpatient care to a diverse patient population.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care

Perform admissions, daily rounding, and cross‑coverage on adult medical inpatients

Conduct focused histories and physical exams

Develop and implement patient care plans in collaboration with supervising physicians

Write orders, manage acute issues, and coordinate discharges
-
Communicate with consulting services, nursing, case management, and families

Document all patient encounters in the EMR in a timely and accurate manner
Team Collaboration

Work closely with hospitalists and multidisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care

Participate in handoffs, care coordination, and daily team huddles
-
Support quality and safety initiatives within the inpatient medicine service
Training & Support

Receive structured onboarding and mentorship from experienced hospitalists

Participate in ongoing education, skills development, and clinical training

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
-
Current or eligible NYS PA license
-
NCCPA certification (or eligibility)

Strong interest in inpatient medicine or hospitalist practice

Excellent communication, clinical reasoning, and teamwork skills
