Position Summary

​

A leading multi-site cancer care network is seeking a dynamic Chief of Medical Physics to lead and elevate its radiation oncology programs. This executive-level role blends strategic leadership with hands-on clinical expertise, overseeing physics and dosimetry operations across multiple facilities. The Chief will report to Radiation Oncology Directors and hospital administration, with clinical alignment under the System Radiation Oncology Medical Director.

What You’ll Lead

​

Operational Excellence

  • Architect and implement system-wide protocols, QA frameworks, and SOPs for physics and dosimetry.

  • Manage staffing plans, onboarding, cross-training, and ongoing competency development.

  • Champion performance reviews, peer learning, and continuous improvement initiatives.

 

Clinical Innovation

​

  • Spearhead evaluation and deployment of cutting-edge radiation technologies.

  • Integrate Aria, Eclipse, and Epic platforms to streamline clinical workflows.

  • Provide expert support for advanced procedures including IORT, TBI, CyberKnife®, and stereotactic therapies.

  • Collaborate with the System Radiation Safety Officer to uphold robust safety standards.

 

Academic & Research Partnerships

  • Co-develop evidence-based treatment protocols with oncologists and the System Medical Director.

  • Contribute to clinical trials and research via the Cancer Center Clinical Trials Committee.

  • Strengthen ties with Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center (VICC) through joint training, peer review, and residency initiatives.

  • Support Graduate Medical Education (GME) efforts for radiology residents specializing in radiation oncology.

 

Strategic Vision

  • Lead long-range planning for physics and dosimetry services across the network.

  • Ensure full compliance with all regulatory bodies—state, federal, and accrediting agencies.

 

What You Bring

​

Credentials

  • Master’s in Medical Physics (PhD preferred).

  • ABR or ACMP board certification.

  • BLS certification within two weeks of hire.

 

Experience

  • At least 5 years in hospital-based radiation oncology.

  • Proven leadership in medical physics—ideally as a Chief or senior-level physicist.

 

Skills

  • High-level proficiency in clinical systems and digital platforms.

  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and team-building abilities.

  • Strong organizational skills with experience managing multi-site operations.
